Olio of Recent Travels
Amorbach. First, the Templar House. The second oldest half-timbered house in Germany -- built in 1291 (although the wall/foundation is older). That means this house was 200 years old when Columbus sailed. How's that for a sense of history? Second is the Rococo interior of a church in the village. Wow did the exterior not give much clue to the beautiful interior.
In Miltenberg, we ate at the oldest inn/pub in Germany that still functions as such. The Haus zum Riesen (House of Giants) has been serving guests since 1190. Then a view overlooking the village from the castle ruin. Did I mention that it was freaking cold and windy up there?
Finally from Miltenberg, one of the most unique signs directing people to the public toilets that I have ever seen.
